Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Technical Support Manager, the Technical Support Specialist fields calls from customers regarding disease and pest management. This person makes recommendations and uses their own judgment to solve these issues directly with the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Make treatment & growing recommendations to customers in response to technical inquires by phone, email and fax in a timely & professional manner.
- Answer questions from Customer Service Department & Outside Sales Representatives as it relates to solving customers plant disease and pest management issues. Required to problem solve & making recommendations using own judgment.
- Represent, support & promote Griffin?s products to customers through presentations, tradeshows and telephone contact..
- Identifies and resolves problems and make suggests for appropriate corrective action.
- Uses sound judgment in making accurate recommendations to customers.
- Conduct water tests and facilitate sending results with recommendations to customers.
- Coordinate pesticide recertification credits for Griffin sponsored events with the individual State?s Department of Agriculture.
- Research, & gather information to create quarterly articles for the customer newsletter (Griffin Gazette) & monthly articles for the Technical Bulletin.
- Give presentations on technical topics to customers in small & large venues.

Education and/or Experience: Education in Horticulture or equivalent years experience necessary. 5+ years of Horticultural experience required, with specific knowledge of plant disease & pest management.
Language Skills: Ability to create or generate computerized reports and memos to communicate status to supervisor and/or owners. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, peers, and customers.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect data, establish facts, and develop a working solution to obtain missing information. Complete understanding of all accounting functions and the best way to obtain missing information. Must possess the ability to work with various internal and external personalities at every level within an organization; must be able to maintain composure during stressful and often changing environments; must be able to work effectively and calmly with short deadlines and situational conflicts.
Computer Skills: To be effective in this position, the individual must have good Microsoft office product knowledge and experience conducting research on the internet.

GGSPro Horticulture Technical Specialist- Expansion has created the need for additional staff. GGSPro is the technical support division of Griffin. We provide a wide range of support and education to greenhouse and nursery growers of ornamental, vegetable, and medicinal crops throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in horticulture and have the ability to effectively communicate with growers. The work is fast paced, supporting many sales reps and grower customers each day. Writing and public presentation skills are required. The GGSPro team works closely together so being a good team player is essential. Occasional travel is required.
Job Requirements
Education, training, experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture is required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the horticultural industry

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
