Vehicle Description 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Pre-production cars are vehicles that allow the automaker to find problems before a new model goes on sale to the public.
Pre-production cars come after prototypes, or development mules which themselves are preceded by concept cars.
Pre-production vehicles are followed by production vehicles in the mass production of them for distribution through car dealerships.
For consignment, a pre-production 2013 Boss 302 Mustang that has the unique distinction of being 1 of 14 cars of which only 11 still exist.
Furthermore its 1 of a total of 3 produced in School Bus Yellow.
All is right with this car including extensive documentation, a snappy interior, and of course, the track key.
With a mere 7,661 miles clocked on her it's a very low mileage example and it's a one of three.
Exterior Bathed in School Bus Yellow, its low number claim to fame, all panels are laser straight, gaps are well minded, with contrasting black hood bump up area covered with a satin finish wide racing stripe, and the essential hockey stick cove with Boss 302 badging all is right with this mass of muscle.
Trimmings present in black as window surrounds, front spoiler, and rear spoiler.
The Mustang has retained its original design cues and lines from the first version in 1964-1/2.
Front end has become more smoothed, but still menacing, cove is there, and the rear taillights are still in groups of 3's.
Even the B pillar uses the curved window for the rear passengers, this time in lieu of the original venting that was on some of the first version fastbacks.
19-inch black powder coated wheels are on all 4 corners and use the galloping horse badge in the central hub.
Interior Inside we have near perfect suede broadcloth high backed bucket seats by Recaro.
These chairs sport an additional headrest on top.
With plenty of side bolstering on the seat and back it definitely helps keep you firmly planted there when utilizing the track key, and I'm speaking from experience! These buckets also sport Boss 302 embroidering on the upper backs and are manually operated.
A similar design 2 plus 2 rear seating arrangement is stuffed in the back.
For the dash, also in black and gray, we see blue glowing readouts for the instruments and push-button controls.
A simple layout again harkening back to the original with dual rounded large gauges and centrally located panel with other smaller gauges.
A leather covered steering wheel is the perfect size for this car and sports some control buttons at your fingertips.
Dark gray carpet all clean, covers the floors, and a tight dark gray headliner is above.
Wheels up! Drivetrain A 5.
0 liter V8 Coyote engine is stuffed into the engine bay under the hood.
It has a cold air induction system that feeds air to electronic fuel injection.
On the back is an MT-82 6-speed manual transmission, and for the rear axle a Ford 8.
8 inch 3.
73 TracLoc rear axle setup.
A shout out to this engine as it looks absolutely showroom with highly detailed clean components, plastic coverings and blue valve covers.
And an award winner for this engine bay.
Undercarriage Underneath ground effects plastic coverings abound and no surface rust for the unibody, floorpans, rockers and even wheel wells, all clean here! Manual adjustable suspension with independent Macpherson style struts for the front, and 3 link with Panhard bar rear suspension.
Power Wilwood front discs are now on, and the rear also has power discs.
Rear and side exit exhausts offer up plenty of breathing for the 5.
0 liters of power to exit.
Drive-Ability With track key on hand, she fired right up, and out was off to the test track, which is why I used the track key! Here it has plenty of acceleration, smooth quick ability to shift manually with the short throw shifter, and quick panic stopping.
It also provided a nice low rumble cruise at highway speed.
All functions were working perfectly, and seating was very comfortable.
Use caution with the track key though because all the typical nannies are disabled so you can easily have the rear trying to outrun the front with this mode on.
The consigner states the original transmission was replaced on a warranty issue that could not be fixed on the original.
School Bus Yellow, 1 of 3 pre-production cars available, documented as built in 2011 but has a 2013 VIN tag now available for consignment.
Nicely preserved, low, low miles, and near perfect exterior.
Highly detailed engine bay, and comfortable Recaro seat interior.
Definitely an E ticket ride with some throwback to its original roots adding nice touches.
