Vehicle Description 1965 Chrysler 300 The first thing to remember, talking about the Chrysler company, is its founder - an extraordinary man, whose name was Walter Percy Chrysler.
Born in 1875, Walter had a fascinating career.
He worked his way up through positions such as a supervisor, a superintendent, a division master mechanic and a general master mechanic.
Following the example of Henry Ford, many American businessmen started their own automobile manufacturing companies.
In the 20th century, many small automakers were created just to be absorbed by bigger companies.
Similarly, Chrysler was founded by Walter Chrysler on June 6, 1925, when the Maxwell Motor Company (est.
1904) was reorganized into the Chrysler Corporation.
For consignment we give you large and in charge, from the era of big Detroit iron where status was measured by the inch, this beautiful example of the Chrysler 300.
Originally purchased by our consignor's aunt and passed onto him in 1995, still sporting its original drivetrain, consignor stated original and presentable paint, a sign board with the original documents, window sticker and even all the books and repair orders throughout the car's history.
Take a hard look at this 46,450 title verified actual mile cruiser, they don't come up often in this condition.
Exterior Plenty of Soft Yellow covers the straight and true steel slabs that have been formed to create this stylish example of the 300.
Gaps are well minded, and paint, being the consignor stated original, has not lost its luster, but does show some wear as well as chip offs and dings.
Chrome and badging are all original and all looking good.
With its loooooong hood, and 2 door passenger compartment (more like an apartment) and loooooong trunk, I'm getting ready to move in! A long flat roof presents with diminishing B pillars, which was the Mopar style at the time, and looks just fab as is the plentiful chrome trim around all the windows, trim spear just above the rockers, and wheel wells.
Within those wheel wells are fantastically preserved tri color and polished Chrysler wheel covers with a turbine center and 300 badging.
Overall, a very nice exterior presentation.
Interior A swing of the massive but well-balanced doors and we are greeted with pristine panels that have a mixture of black vinyl, 300 badges in an aluminum field, and some a beige, bordering on gold, tuck and roll inlay.
Slipping inside we see large buckets with some tuck and roll and smooth vinyl all in goldish beige.
A central armrest can be folded up to provide an extra seat in the front, or to make room for your best girl to snuggle up with you.
Some slight age wear is noted on the driver's bucket but otherwise the seats front and rear are all good.
A long steel dash with black padded top present with an eyebrow bump up for the instrument cluster and more chrome horizontal ribbed chrome have all the original and functioning controls.
Black carpet is installed and in good condition as is the beige headliner above which is nice and tight.
Also, a note to the trunk which has its original jack and spare tire along with a carpet remnant lining and is very clean and very well preserved.
Drivetrain A V8 with 383 cubes pumps out 315hp and is fed by a single 4-barrel carburetor, sits in a clean but original engine bay.
Transmission is a correct A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic which sends power back to a 3.
23 geared rear axle.
All looking good in the engine cosmetic department, which screams period correct! Undercarriage Nice straight steel with some surface rusting, good floor pans, wheel wells, and all clear on the mechanical front are seen underneath.
Torsion bar upfront, and leaf springs in the rear make up the suspension, and drum brakes with fresh pads and wheel cylinders are all around.
A newer Borla dual exhaust system is now on to handle the exhale from the big V8 up front.
Drive-Ability This example started right up and drove nicely as expected with a large car as such.
Handling is cushy, and because of its size it will not turn on a dime, but cruises wonderfully, providing a very smooth ride.
Noted, the radio has recently stopped working and the time adjuster for the clock has come off, but all other buttons and knobs function as they should.
Mostly original, well kept, low miles, exterior in fine shape, get in, turn the key and feel those 315 horses take you down the road.
