Vehicle Description 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme The Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is a mid-size car produced by Oldsmobile between 1966 and 1997.
It was positioned as a premium offering at the top of the Cutlass range.
It began as a trim package, developed its own roofline, and rose during the mid-1970s to become not only the most popular Oldsmobile but the highest selling model in its class.
In 1973, the Cutlass Supreme, like other GM mid-size cars, was redesigned.
Hardtop models were replaced by new Colonnade styling with fixed center pillars.
Concerns over proposed rollover standards caused many automakers to phase out their pillarless hardtops and convertibles throughout the 1970s, and the Cutlass was no exception.
The 1973-74 energy crisis resulting from the Arab Oil Embargo led Oldsmobile to introduce two new smaller engines to the Cutlass line in 1975.
The Chevrolet built 250 cubic-inch inline six and three-speed manual transmission were reinstated as standard equipment on the Supreme coupe and sedan with a new Olds-built 260 cubic-inch Rocket V8.
For consignment, a project car if you will.
With almost no invasive rust on the body and undercarriage, an original but worn interior, lots of recent service and a great driver.
After making a 340 mile trouble free trip to grace our Hallowed Halls this survivor is ready to have new life breathed into it all the while still being driven and enjoyed.
Exterior Cameo White covers the steel panels which have surface rust on the lower sections of a few panels.
The majority of the invasive rust is evident around the passenger's opera window and lower rear quarter panel.
The Landau style vinyl roof has been removed showing the underlying metal treated with a rust preventative primer, however, pitting of the steel is still evident.
Fit and finish as to gaps is decent with slight misalignment of panels.
The chrome is presenting well with only minor delaminating itself of chrome finish and also has dimpling.
Matching 15-inch wire wheel covers over steel wheels are noted on all 4 corners and are shod in almost new blackwall rubber.
Lots of steel to pay attention to especially with the flowing almost bulbous lines that taper into the center of the door from both the front fenders and rear quarter panels.
All of the glass presents well and is crack free with shiny stainless trimmings, some of which have been removed but are included with the purchase.
Interior All original but time worn for the saddle interior.
Saddle door panels show off in a mix of vinyl, plastic and carpeting.
The plastic shows some scratching and dryness of the material, and the lower carpeting strip has faded to a pea green hue.
Up front a pair of bucket seats flank a long console that races up and under the dash.
Within the console is an armrest/storage bin, the chrome handled automatic shifter and a small storage area in the front.
The buckets, while worn, are original and present with smooth saddle bolsters, a pillow top broadcloth lower insert and another pillow top vinyl upper insert.
Not only are these front seats in bucket format but they also swivel to allow easier entrance and exit for those of larger stature such as myself.
The front buckets show overall wear with seam separation and tearing of the broadcloth, moreso on the driver's position.
A Saddle vinyl rear bench seat runs from interior panel to interior panel and presents with some seam separation and tearing.
The original dash shows wear and cracking, with wood applique, and is loaded with slides for the heater and ac controls, wipers and various other functions.
Front and center are deeply inset dual gauge pods that at first glance look like the large end of a pair of binoculars.
Gold carpet floods the floors and shows with some staining and fade to green.
Up above is hanging a tight Saddle headliner.
Drivetrain Filling the unrestored and patina riddled engine bay is the correct Oldsmobile 350ci V8 topped with a rebuilt 4bbl carburetor capable of making 170hp.
A 10-bolt 2.
56 geared rear axle takes the power from a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission.
The drivetrain has been regularly serviced and has had a new fuel pump installed.
Undercarriage Unrestored and original is the theme here.
Surface rust is making an appearance on the solid steel frame and original non-undercoated flooring.
Only one small area of invasive rust is noted on the passenger's rear floor pan.
Independent coil spring front suspension is on and works in conjunction with a 4 link and coil spring rear suspension to provide that cushy Olds quality ride.
Power disc brakes are seen on the front and power drums are on the rear and have been treated to a new master cylinder and a recent brake job.
A stock single exhaust system is noted, and we see a new fuel tank and new lines.
Drive-Ability Despite its exterior and interior flaws, this car runs beautifully.
It starts quickly, has great acceleration, and drives and rides very smoothly.
All working components are there save for the radio not turning on and the A/C being nonfunctional, otherwise it is a great cruiser.
A wonderful survivor and an honestly presented car.
It will need some TLC on the cosmetic department, but it is all still there, and a great drivetrain to work around.
Break out your tools and enjoy a project you can drive while you bring your dreams to fruition.
