Vehicle Description 1991 Chevrolet C1500 Pickup Used for both the model branding and the internal model code, C denoted two-wheel drive; K denoted four-wheel drive.
Four generations of the model line were produced, including the second-generation Action Line and third-generation Rounded Line vehicles.
For the fourth generation, GMC revised its branding, changing to a singular GMC Sierra nameplate, (C/K remained as an internal model code).
For consignment, a 1991 Chevrolet C1500 pickup.
Not your average C1500 either with some lowering of suspension, blackening of all trimmings, bumpers and even tinted glass giving it the SS454 look.
This menacing truck has an aero look, a swapped in big block V8 and slinks up to you in total disguise, as you will not even know it's there, but it is loud and proud! Heeeeere's Johnny! (Jack Nicholson in The Shining).
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.
Exterior With its inset horizontal rectangular headlights flanking a blackened egg crate grille and red bowtie in front, the menacing look begins.
A black bumper below is also framing the bottom.
As we move back the smooth hood, we bump into the windscreen which is lightly tinted and surrounded by black trimmings.
Straight steel with well minded gaps are on the framing, and the bed is even covered in black vinyl.
Nicely inset handles for the doors and a small lower crimp in the body styling adds some texture to the back, (I think that was the idea?!).
The back of this truck has an unadulterated european aero look with an inset black bumper, inset tail lights and a smooth over tailgate.
All is looking good and also mean but unassuming.
17-inch polished rally wheels are looking snappy under all the black and add some bling to the exterior.
Interior As we swing the doors the unexpected rushes over me with unfaded red velour, maroon velour and red carpeting for the door panels.
These are unfaded, a rarity, and have a charcoal gray plastic molded rectangular panel for the actuator, locks and crank.
A nice storage bin is molded into the bottoms.
As I have a seat inside, I'm sitting on more deep unfaded red velour that has ribbed tuck and roll inserts, and smooth velour bolsters.
It appears as a 60/40 front bench with the larger of the two seats being for the passenger.
In front is the square and rectangle designed dash in black with all the turn dials, instruments and pulls one could wish for and all in great condition.
A column mounted tachometer somewhat obscures the speedo but gives the readout right to the driver! In the center is an aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM/CD/USB/Satellite ready digital radio.
A large maroon molded plastic dash for the passenger includes a glovebox.
Below is beautiful clean red carpeting and above is a fuzzy broadcloth red padded headliner nice and smooth.
All in excellent rare unfaded condition so its like new! Drivetrain Nice and clean as well for this engine bay, which includes a non-original 454ci V8 topped with a 4-barrel carburetor.
On the back is a TH400 3-speed automatic with a 10 bolt rear axle.
A Magnaflow exhaust aids the exhale.
Noted, there is no catalytic converter.
Undercarriage Some patina, and light surface rust is noted but all structurally sound underneath.
We note some air bag assisted leaf springs on back and independent coil sprung front suspension.
Power disc braking is up front, and power drums for the back.
Drive-Ability This truck fired right up and on the test track and displayed a surprising amount of unlimited power.
It may be the 454 cubes coupled with the 4-barrel carb, or it may be my heavy foot, but the truck did not disappoint on the acceleration front.
The functions were all working but the speedometer needs to be hooked up to the tranny as it is not working.
The braking was solid, and power steering was done with one finger if you desire.
A lowered, sporty truck all in menacing black with a beautiful unfaded red velour interior.
454 cubes and a 4-barrel keep this truck from being kicked out of bed for eating crackers.
All is well on this C1500 red bowtie front.
(which it actually has!).
