Vehicle Description 1979 Cadillac DeVille Hardtop The vision for the Cadillac is based on precision engineering and the complete luxury experience.
This is the reason why Cadillac is one of the finest cars ever manufactured in the United States.
This tradition will carry on throughout its manufacturing history, and to this day, Cadillac still remains to be America's finest luxury vehicle.
Ford's vision of precision manufacturing led to the ultimate reliability of his vehicles.
Therefore, Cadillac's reputation preceded itself as the better-made automobile compared to its competitors.
For consignment, a very cool Caddy from 1979, prior to our consignor's ownership this was a 1 family owned and enjoyed luxury cruiser.
The beneficiary of a respray in the original Firemist hue, and while not perfect, still a symbol of excellence and luxury known world wide.
Let's settle right in and enjoy the finer things in life and enjoy all the juiciness this Cedar Firemist luxury cruiser has to offer.
Exterior A Cedar Firemist respray covers the extra-large steel panels on this beautiful land yacht.
A few areas of tiger striping are noted on the horizontal panels, along with some rust bubbling down low mixing in with chipping and heavy surface rust along the body side spear trimline.
We also note a few dings and scrapes as well as invasive rust on the lower left front quarter panel.
It is sporting a complimenting Cedar Brown padded vinyl landau top in near showroom condition, and the same can be said for all chrome and brite-work as well as badging.
However, we do note some tarnishing of the grille surround as well as the chrome headlights bezels.
All exterior lighting works perfectly and spoke chromed Caddy wheel covers are mounted all around on the 15-inch steel wheels.
All tastefully done, and you are looking at one snappy Caddy.
From its front V shaped grille to the throwback vertical tail cathedral lights it exudes the late 1970's Interior Breathe in the Dark Cedar ultra-padded and stitched tuck and roll bucket velour broadcloth recliner front seats flanking a large armrest between the seat backs.
A rear bench stretches from B pillar to Bpillar, and provides plenty of room for extra passengers, along with the same embedded armrest in the middle.
Door panels are a mixture of Dark Cedar leatherette, molded plastic, stainless steel control panels and wonderful hand selected wood veneers.
The doors hold the power window and power door lock switches, and the mirror adjustment joystick.
The quintessential GM dash with a mixture of swirled faux wood overlays, Dark Cedar vinyl, and just the right amount of chrome fronts the driver and is looking just dandy.
This dash houses a climate control system, intermittent wipers, and rear defogger.
An aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD/Sirius capable stereo is there as well.
Cruise control is noted on the dash controls for those long highwaydrives.
The headliner in this car is stretched and presents beautifully as it hangs tightly but not without a few wrinkles over your head.
For your feet the pleasure of thick pile Light Cedar carpeting, showing slight fading on the hump with goldish green carpeted mats to protect the carpet.
Drivetrain The big 425ci V8 is attached to a Turbo Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission, (say that 3 times real fast!).
Topping this mill is a single 4-barrel carburetor, and way back is a 10-bolt rear axle.
Undercarriage Plenty room for potential problems, however none are really noted here with clean panels, rockers, and frame structurally sound.
We note the coil spring front independent suspension, and a 4 link with coils on the rear.
Power disc brakes up front, and power drum brakes on the rear, with a factory replacement muffler and exhaust system.
Drive-Ability This car was one luxurious drive, and in keeping up with the Cadillac name I chose to ride in the back.
All was well the test track save for a slight pull to the left when driving, the AC blowing warm, the odometer and trip meter not recording miles, and an occasional pop from the left front suspension when performing low speed cornering.
All else performed wonderfullythe brakes were bias free, and the tires held the curves like a new mother holding her baby.
After my ride I took a nap in those Cedar recliners but don't tell the boss man (Boss makes a dollar I make a dime, that's why I sleep on company time!) Luxury and length at its finest.
Cadillac was managing to ignore the gas crisis that seemed to be going on all around it, and despite this remained very popular.
Grab a piece of GM history, all in good condition and running like a top, only it's a Cadillac! Guaranteed to show up to anything in style, the Cadillac DeVille, a storied classic in the luxury realm most of us would never have had the chance to have known but now can As it should be.
