Vehicle Description 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback When Chrysler launched the Gen II Plymouth Barracuda in 1967 it finally had a serious contender in the 'pony car' category.
While Ford's Mustang had always concealed its humble Falcon underpinnings beneath its sporty coupe sheet metal, the Gen I Barracuda of 1964-66 had been pretty obviously a Valiant - except for its huge 'glasshouse' rear window and boot lid styling.
Although the new Gen II 'Cuda still shared the basic A-platform architecture and 2743mm wheelbase with the Valiant, the two cars looked quite different.
The new-look Barracuda won plaudits for Plymouth from industry experts for its distinctive and handsome good looks - clean flowing lines with lovely 'coke-bottle' curves.
For consignment, a fastback Barracuda which is wearing a single repaint in the original color, a snappy 2 tone interior and all the good looks that you've come to expect from the Mopar camp.
From the consignor, a rebuilt 1976 318ci V8 with a mild cam, Edelbrock carb and Weiand intake offer up the power.
To sweeten the pot, a binder of receipts as well as the broadcast sheet and dealership documents from new come along with the car.

Exterior You'd have me down, down, down, down on my knees Now wouldn't you, barracuda? Oh! Yes OH x10 with this example bathed in a single repaint of the original Dark Red Metallic hue and highlighted with clean chrome trimmings throughout.
The grille which has dual arrows pointing at each other in the center uses a single headlight on each corner with a square turn signal light in the egg crate portion.
The center where the arrows meet is in Dark Red Metallic which has started down the lower front roll pan just below the shiny front bumper.
It makes its rise to the hood where a central peak in the metal runs rearward and is highlighted on either side by ribbed chrome hood plates before dying off at the base of the windshield.
From here the glass takes over and with its stainless trim does a superb job of highlighting the gently sloping fastback roofline and sweeping rear glass.
The gaps are well minded, no rust seen, just a few small inclusions and chips in the finish.
The sloping rear lines eventually hit the back of the car where they flatten out vertically and sport a small inward V to use the tail lights and a horizontal bar silver with a Barracuda badge.
Just below is another pencil thin rear bumper and the rear roll pan where dual reverse lights and turn down exhaust tips peek out.
Just a lovely presentation of coke bottle fastback design ready to tear 'em up with the 14-inch American Racing Outlaw II wheels and staggered width raised white letter Firestone radials.
Ohhhhh, Barracuda! Interior Between the doors which sport white vinyl tuck and roll inserts and a central wood applique panel for the arm rest, actuator and window crank are comfy low back bomber style buckets in front.
These have tuck and roll inserts and smooth bolsters and some chromed edging as accenting.
A center console runs past these buckets towards the dash.
It has a silver inlay and some trimmings in chrome in the edging, sports the tall rearward raked shift lever, and dies off after running under the dash.
The dash is factory with more burl accenting, a trio of round gauges including a factory performance meter and a 150mph speedo unit in the field of the driver, and in the inverted V shape and an aluminum horizontal panel is below.
A tri-spoked big steering wheel fronts the dash and in back is a fold down 2 plus 2 bench with a matching front pattern white vinyl.
This can also become storage space by folding the seat down and opening it up to the large space under the greenhouse rear glass.
Black carping floods the floors, and above is a black headliner.
Drivetrain Now appearing in the refurbished engine bay in Dark Red Metallic is a circa 1976 rebuilt 318ci V8 that the consigner states has a new oil pump, bearings, pistons, rings and a double roller timing chain, although no paperwork is backing that up so we will take his word for it.
Gracingthis orange painted block arefabricated polished aluminum valve coverings and a 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, with a Weiand intake manifold.
Looking like new, the master cylinder and hoses are squeezed in here as well.
On the back is an A904 Torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission that sends power rearward to an 7-1/4 inch 2.
93 conventional rear axle thatturns the rear tires.
Snaking headers and mismatched glasspack style mufflers allow for the free flow of spent gases.
Undercarriage Showing a slight bit of patina and some surface rust, albeit minimal, it is all structurally sound and ready to rumble.
Aiding in that aspect is an independent torsion bar front suspension, and leaf springs with air shocks for the rear.
Disc brakes are on in the front, and in back drum braking with new wheel cylinders being noted.
Drive-Ability I slipped in this 60 muscle excitement, and my thoughts turned to where is the next Mustang I can chew up!? It is comfortable, ergonomically a great fit, and it ran like a Deere, or should I say swam like a fish in water on the test track.
Nice acceleration, good handling from the suspension, and bias free braking on the panic stopping.
The radio turns on but I wasn't able to dial in any reception other than static on the AM band, but otherwise all functions operated as they should.
Just a great look for this Plymouth fastback, very nice paint, and a recently rebuilt engine, as well as snazzy interior directly from the mid 1960's.
You gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn to the wick.
