Vehicle Description 1991 Pontiac Firebird Coupe A beloved symbol of 1970s car culture.

And we love it.
This is the story of Pontiac's Screaming Chicken, the largest and most recognizable decal in automotive history.
Lost to time is the name of the man that first referred to the graphic as a Screaming Chicken.
The nickname came quickly.
By the late 1970s, even Car and Driver was using the label.
No doubt derogatory, over time the epithet has become one of endearment, although the brand's hardest purists still hate it.
That bunch landed on hood bird four decades ago and refused to budge.
Others go with Rising Phoenix or simply Firebird.
The ignorant usually refer to the massive flaming fowl as an Eagle or a Hawk.
This rounded off version of the iconic Firebird right out of 1991 remains in very nice condition with a low mileage clocked at 46,067.
It's a chicken less hood, and a removable smoked glass T top, all bathed in Bright Red and ripe for the picking.
Call it a forbidden fruit low hanging and in our south hallway.
Exterior A Bright Red base coat and clear coat respray adorns the straight panels of this car.
Virtually no chrome and all composite bumpers and front and rear parts come together to form this aerodynamic and slightly lighter car than the Trans Am version.
The lines of this car blend seamlessly to form the final shape, all smooth and aerodynamic.
All red.
All looking great from the hidden headlights through the T top smoked glass roof, rear greenhouse glass and sexy spoiler bringing up the rear.
Pontiac cast wheels with black negative spaces are on all 4 corners.
Interior Gray cloth makes up the dual buckets in front and the 2 plus 2 seats in the rear.
The remainder of the interior keeps with the gray only a little darker for the clean dash and pristine newly installed carpeting.
They shaved off the former straight lines and now curves abound in this nice interior.
Even the black sculpted console looks very aerodynamic.
We note a built-in panel just below dash central that houses the digital radio and temp sliders.
In front of the driver, a lineup of inset round gauges is seen with virtually every aspect of this car monitored.
Drivetrain 3.
1 Liter V6 sits in a super clean and shiny environment with little to no corrosion.
It has EFI and a 700R4 4-speed automatic.
A 10-bolt rear axle is noted on the back.
A word as the injectors have been recently replaced.
Undercarriage Front independent coil springs and rear torque arm with coil springs is seen.
Power disc braking is upfront, and power drums for the back.
A stock exhaust is on along with power steering.
Drive-Ability A quick starter, smooth driver and some nice power.
Overall, a good car, with some new paint, carpeting and fuel injectors.
Everything was working just wonderfully during my drive.
