Vehicle Description 1936 Chevrolet Master Coupe The 1936 Chevrolet Standard and Master DeLuxe enabled Chevy to reclaim first place from Ford during 1936.
Sales were up nearly 70 percent over the 1935 Chevys.
Unlike in 1935, the 1936 Chevrolet Standard and Master DeLuxe now used the same 79-horsepower six-cylinder engine; that meant an increase of five horsepower for the Standard, and a decrease of one for the DeLuxe.
For consignment, we offer up the 2-door coupe in the form of the Master Deluxe.
A later run car, as the body is fully steel with none of that pesky wood to get in your way here folks.
A barn find if you will, but with a fairly straight body that hasn't been modified and many parts included to turn this example into a street rod if you so choose.
Consider this a blank canvas to fulfill your every restoration or street rod whim.
Exterior Bathed in black, the older respray is showing some cracks, crazing, a few dings, and surface rust peppering on nearly every panel, but no invasive rust is noted.
The chrome needs attention particularly on the front bumper that has sustained damage as to denting.
Remainder of chrome is rusted and pitted.
Black wheels are all around, and this car has 2 taillights on the back, albeit missing their lenses.
A black metal sprayed, and chrome trimmed spare tire cover sits neatly into the rear bumper, and still allows access to the rumble seat.
Opening this and we are met with wood and steel frames for the bench seat.
Mostly complete but in need of TLC.
Interior Swinging the doors, and we see worn and stained tan mohair making up the door panels.
This mohair, in similar condition, covers the roof and upper side panels inside.
Seating and carpeting has been removed leaving us with a surface rusted front flooring, meanwhile in the rear, under the wooden package shelf we note a fuel tank resting atop the severely rusted floor pan.
The tan weathered steel dash still holds the original white-faced gauges along with a few worn knobs and slides.
The factory steering column and large black plastic wheel fronts this unrestored dash.
We note that the glass, while intact, is showing signs of severe delamination.
Drivetrain Opening the centrally hinged hood reveals an unrestored engine bay with a heavily rusted and partially disassembled 206.
8ci inline 6-cylinder engine.
A 3-speed manual transmission is on back, which once pushed power back to a 4.
11 rear.
Our consignor notes that a 327ci Chevrolet V8 with camelback heads is optionally included with the purchase, as is a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission.
Undercarriage Heavy surface rust has taken over nearly every surface down below.
While the frame, body hangers and running board supports remain solid, the same cannot be said for the flooring which has severe invasive rust in the rear section of the floor pans.
Leaf springs with knee action shock front suspension and leaf spring rear suspension can be seen under here as well.
Also noted are hydraulic drum brakes.
As another add-in our consignor will optionally include a new Mustang front suspension, new 2 drop spindles, new A-arms, new disc brake, new rotors, and a new steering rack.
A better than most barn find with usable panels on the exterior, plenty of trim, remaining mostly rust free, plus the added benefit of new suspension parts and a newer drivetrain optionally included.
Nice lines, not perfect, but an overall fair example of the 1936 Master coupe complete with rumble seat, bullet headlights, and a beautiful design line.
