Vehicle Description 1931 Ford Model A Pickup The Ford Model A was a huge success for the Ford Motor Company and is the first car that comes to mind when many think of early American steel.
It single handedly spawned America's love affair with trucks and laid the foundation for what would become one of the best selling vehicles of all time.
For consignment, a rodded all steel Ford Model A pickup truck from 1931.
A former North Carolina farm truck and owned by our consignor for the last 19 years, this garage kept with no rust, just nice panels of straight steel and shiny chrome 1931 pickup truck oozes class.
A TCI frame and a newer 350ci V8to push it along and not fool around.
Check out the clean interior, press down the gas, and you will soon be haulin'ass Exterior Yes, it's a 1931 Ford pickup, but with its straight exterior steel cab panels, all rust free, and looking much like the original as it would have appeared in 1931, we note consistent gaps, and little fault with it overall.
Nice black paint covers the cab, as well as the bed.
Within the side cowling for the hood is the hot spot for the white to orange to red and finally blue and purple rearward licking flames this truck is HOT HOT HOT! This steel runs forward and is fronted by a nicely blacked radiator cover and mesh grille.
This has a FORD badge on it and the radiator cap is ofthe standard variety.
It is flanked by a single tiebar connected headlight on either side, sporting shiny bezels and rounded cases.
Black steel fenders are attached to the front and rear and are held together by a common running board with textured grips in the centers.
The fenders are also very nice on the paint front, with no cracking seen.
On the rear is the steel pickup tub.
This black box has been carefully lined with polished diamond plate on the flooring, meanwhile the sides remain deep dark black.
A custom polished diamond plate tool/storage chest resides up front, just behind the cab.
15-inch polished flame cut Billet Specialties wheels are seen on all 4 corners, and add highlight to the sinister black motif.
Interior A swing of the original doors and we see some nifty gray vinyl panels with the Ford V8 logo stitched into the design.
A door actuator and lever in nice chrome float within this vinyl field and we note that the windows are power actuated.
Turning our attention to the upwardly curved metal exterior matching black dash, it now has some purple pinstriping to highlight the arch of the upper dash face.
Withinthe black is a billet bezel filled with round LCD display gauges and a skull forgood measure is just above To the driver's left is the panel with slides for the Vintage AC and heat system.
A tilt adjustable LeCarra steering column, and a rally style leather rimmed steering wheel fronts the dash.
A long and soft gray vinyl bench runs from door to door and presents in the same condition as the door panels.
A central black stripe divides the halves of the seat and we note the addition of lap belts for safety.
Gray broadcloth takes over for the vertical rear wall of the cab and continues for the stitched headliner.
Up front, on top of the headliner is a handmade custom box that houses the digital aftermarket AM/FM/CD player, power window switches, billet knobs and the ignition.
The floors are covered with nice speckledgray carpet and a long armed Lokar shifter grows from the small custom console.
Drivetrain A 350ci engine in V8 format graces the restored engine bay and appears as fresh as the day it was installed.
It's able to be viewed with ease as it is simply beautifully done with its silver headers, chromed Chevrolet valve covers, alternator, and a chrome trimmed open element air cleaner assembly.
No rust here, just an electric radiator fan, and surgical cleanliness are seen.
This mill is topped with a single 4-barrel Holley carb, and backed up by a TH350 3-speed automatic, and way back is a Ford 9-inch rear axle.
Undercarriage Simply swanky with black paintedfloor pans, rockers and under the running boards.
This provides a nice background for the straight black TCI steel frame also with not a hint of rust.
Nice silver coil overs are on the rear to assist the 4 bar suspension and up front is a traditional transverse leaf spring to provide the ride.
Disc brakes are on all 4 corners, and we note the twin saddle mount fuel tanks for an ample supply of go-go juice.
Glasspack style mufflers provide the flow through exhaust and awesome rumble this truck provides when running.
Drive-Ability A very thunderous fire up, and I was excited to get my foot into this one and get to the test track.
Here it gave me plenty of enjoyment with very good acceleration, excellent handling, and smooth shifting.
It can also cruise and has the ever-present thunderous roar to the exhaust as wetraveled along.
No squeaks or creaks, and it is hard to believe we are in a 1931 Model A modified skate.
Also, worth mentioning all was working including those 4 wheel disc brakes, which brought me to an abrupt straight stop when needed.
This build provides an excellent experience on many levels.
Quality of build, fit and finish, power, visual bling, and interior comfort.
A true turnkey truck ready to go and show and turn a few heads in the process.
Not built to be a show queen, but a full on drivable dream that is still capable of winning shows as it did in the past both locally and at NSRA events.
